SolarNRG Ranks First in AI Answers for Solar in the Philippines. The Same Work That Grew Their Traffic 786% Did It Again.
Two years ago we published what four years of SEO did for SolarNRG’s traffic. This is the second chapter, and it is about a channel that barely existed when the first one was written. The work did not change. The place it pays out did.
The Business
SolarNRG Philippines designs, supplies and installs rooftop and commercial solar systems for homes and businesses across the country, backed by the international SolarNRG group. Enquiries come through a quote request, so the funnel is measurable end to end.
Industry: Renewable energy, solar installation
Location: Philippines

Engagement: Ongoing since 2019
Challenge & Goals
Solar is a considered purchase with a long research window, and that research has started moving into AI assistants. A buyer asks which installer to use and gets a shortlist of named companies. We saw the same shift across the market in our study of 1,146 Philippine buyer questions.
The goal was never to chase AI. It was to be the most credible answer in a market full of lookalike installers.
Strategies & Solutions
A technical base that can be crawled and trusted. Sitemap corrected and submitted, indexing controls audited so every page carries a self-referencing canonical, HTTPS enforced with all traffic redirected, mobile parity verified, and indexed URLs reconciled against Search Console. Site errors cleared.
Content built to answer the buyer, not the keyword. The same content programme that produced the 786% annual traffic surge documented in their first case study, extended year on year.
Authority earned off the site. A sustained editorial outreach programme, weighted towards publications a buyer would actually read rather than directory volume.
And the pages themselves are what get cited. Every AI citation this brand earns points at its own pages, not a directory or a review site.
Results
First out of 92 domains cited. Across eight unbranded buyer questions, none of which named a vendor, SolarNRG was named in seven and is the most-cited domain in the category with 18 citations against 16 for the next installer.
| Measure | Result | Comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Rank among domains cited | 1st of 92 | most-cited installer in the category |
| Citations | 18 | 16 for the next installer |
| Buyer questions naming SolarNRG | 7 of 8 | none of the questions named a vendor |
| AI-referred quote request rate | 4.27% | 1.45% from organic search, a 2.9x difference |
| Organic sessions, same period | +59% | 26,339 to 41,965, first half to second |
| AI-referred sessions | 1,429 | thirteen months to July 2026 |
Measured across eight unbranded buyer questions. Conversion and traffic figures from GA4, thirteen months to July 2026.
Those visitors convert at nearly three times the organic rate. Over the thirteen months to July 2026 they requested a quote at 4.27% against 1.45% from organic search, a 2.9x difference across 1,429 sessions.
And it is compounding, not cannibalising. Organic traffic grew 59% over the same period. The AI channel is not taking visits from search; it is a second return on the same asset. That is the argument for treating them as one programme rather than two budgets.
One measurement run so far, which is why it is now tracked monthly.
Why the SEO work is what made this possible
The asset that ranks and the asset that gets quoted are the same asset. The technical base, the crawlability work and the content programme were built to win search. Nothing was added for AI. The engines simply arrived and started quoting what was already there.
The 786% traffic surge and the AI citations came out of the same asset. Nothing was rebuilt for AI. The pages that ranked are the pages being quoted, because a page that answers a buyer’s question well is useful to a search engine and to a language model for the same reason.
Which is why treating these as two budgets is a mistake. It is one programme, compounding, now paying out in two places.
What AEO adds is the part SEO never had to do. A homeowner comparing installers inside an AI answer is reading a description of this business that nobody at the business wrote, on a shortlist nobody at the business can see. Keeping that description accurate, keeping the structure easy to lift from, and noticing the month it changes is a different discipline from ranking a page.
Your SEO may already be earning AI citations. The next question is whether you can hold them.
