Link Roundup: Story Telling, Content Strategy, Risky Businesses and Once-in-a-Blue-Moon Things

Uncategorized

Earlier this week I waxed poetic about what it takes to create strategic content these days, and in the process shared a little bit of my story and professional regrets. I’m loving this new found freedom, which makes me in the mood to share more inspiring posts that I hope will make you ponder upon, not only the way we should create content but also how we consume content. Among other things. 🙂

So. Without further ado, here’s some suggested reading for the weekend! Have a great one!

1. Building a Content Strategy for the Internet of Things

I get a lot of “Content Marketing” related articles on my feed reader but this one is a breathe of fresh air. It talked about how to attack a Content Strategy in an almost poetic way (I don’t know why it felt that way to me!), and discussed why content strategists have to “carefully understand the role that real-time, personalised and poignant content can have.” (I can’t remember the last time I saw “poignant” used this way.) Must read!

2. The Risky Business of Being a Marketer with Integrity

Brian Lenney is obviously my most favorite discovery this month. This most recent article he wrote at Inbound.org is.. intense! He talked about the kind of writing (and marketing) I didn’t think I could do when I’m writing “for work”—honest, and personal, and vulnerable. A great follow up to this article I raved about in this post. So. Before I start typing another 1000+ words about this one just go there already and read it!

3. Is Everyone a Story Teller? How to Identify Your Story To Tell

This one’s an old post but since we’ve been discussing a lot about how to inject story telling into our content strategy, this one dives into the nitty gritty of things.

4. The Big Problem with your Content Strategy

This one is straightforward and on-point! It discusses how to launch a documented content strategy, documented being the operative word, instead of just churning out and publishing directionless pieces of content for the sake of it.

5. Huffington Post is looking to hire an Associate Content Strategist

Just saying. In case you’re a Content Strategist living in New York and all.

By the way, we’re looking for content strategists too. 😉

6. Once in a “Blue Moon” is Happening Tonight

This blue moon that we’re going to see tonight is the reason why the idiom “once in a blue moon” even exists, and this post will tell you more reasons why this event is special. In the Philippines, the blue moon will be visible at 6:43pm, exactly an hour from now. So set your alarm clocks, Philippines, and look up!
